The commercial H&K magazines are dated similarly to the rifles; I think
'J' can be used for the date code on the magazines, or some such?
Military magazines are usually stamped with the month and year of
production, and the symbol for the maker (HK, Rhinemetall, etc).
The '87 in a circle' sounds like a molding date. Many plastic molding
companies use a changeable peg in their molds to indicate the date (or
other information) that an item was cast. Take a look at a milkcrate, the
hidden surface of a plastic auto part or so forth...
